ADDISON, Tx (Nov. 11) – If you follow NHRA and nostalgia funny car racing then you have, no doubt, heard the name John Hale over the years. You’re going to be hearing it a lot more this coming weekend at the Auto Club NHRA Finals.
The former funny car driver for Jim Dunn Racing, former nostalgia funny car team owner/driver and the proud owner of Best of Texas Barbecue Sauce has entered his first NHRA race since selling his nostalgia funny car this past year.
“I’m stoked to be back in Del Worsham’s funny car for the Auto Club NHRA Finals. This race will always be special to me because the heart of drag racing lives in Southern California. The Auto Club Raceway at Pomona has been the host of hundreds of races since the first NHRA event was held there on an April weekend in 1953. The list of famous drag racers who have run cars down this track always leave me feeling the magic that goes with racing here.”
The Worsham family has made recent changes to the car, including the addition of the latest cylinder head. They had Ray Martin driving the car at Indy where they qualified well and won a round of eliminations.
“This car has the possibility of running 380’s. The plan is to knock the rust off on Friday, strap in for another run on Saturday, then get it into the show and have some fun on Sunday. I’m excited about my chances with this car.”
Hale will be displaying his Best of Texas Barbecue Sauce on the side of the funny car during the upcoming Pomona race. It’s been a banner year for the company with their market expanding into multiple chain stores including Tom Thumb, Albertsons, Safeway and additional store availability coming soon.
“We just came off of our best sales month ever in September. What better way to spread the word about our great product than through NHRA drag racing, and of course racing at Barbecue sauce and Texas just go together!”
